Sawdust

In woodworking facilities, sawdust is far more than a nuisance. In fact, sawdust has a surprisingly number of uses. These can include including feeding / mulching plants, preventing weed growth, lightening up cement, etc. One other use for sawdust is in artificial logs for fireplaces and woodstoves. These logs, which are nothing more than compressed sawdust, actually burn cleaner and hotter than traditional firewood (it’s almost akin to coal). So yes, sawdust has some very practical uses, and is indeed a (somewhat surprising) profit generator for many companies.

However, as any woodworker or carpenter will tell you, sawdust is incredibly messy, and hard to gather / dispose of. That’s where Sinobaler has led the way, and developed baling machines that make baling and packaging sawdust quick and easy.
One such baling machine is our horizontal bagging baler, which will compress and package sawdust waste into plastic or woven bags. The bag is placed at the exit channel by hand, and then sealed. It may sound odd to have this step be done by hand, but truthfully that makes the baler much more versatile for other uses.

Baled / bagged weights of sawdust will depend on the moisture content of the wood used. For example, if the water content of the sawdust is 40%, our bagging baler can produce approx. 50kgs bales. If the water content is somewhere around 20%, the bale weight produced by the same machine is approx. 30kgs. Speeds are fast too, with anywhere from 30-70 bales per hour (which is very efficient.)

However, if you work with dry wood in your facility (say 13% moisture or less); you may want to consider our briquetting baler. This utilizes moisture and heat to produce hard “briquettes” of sawdust, which need no further securing or packaging. You can sell these as fuel, or even use them yourself, cutting your fuel expense significantly.
