Case Study: 1,000 Tons/Month Wet Sawdust Compacting and Bagging Solution Using SINOBALER SHB1-WS-800 Bagging Baler

Project Overview

A wood processing company generating approximately 1,000 tons of sawdust per month sought a cost-effective solution to improve storage, handling, and transportation efficiency.

The customer supplies sawdust to biomass processors and wood-based panel manufacturers and required a packaging solution capable of handling high-moisture material without the need for costly drying equipment.

After evaluating multiple technologies, SINOBALER recommended the SHB1-WS-800 Bagging Baler System equipped with a belt conveyor feeding system, providing the optimal balance between investment cost, operational simplicity, and throughput capacity.

Customer Requirements

Material

  • Sawdust
  • Mixed hardwood and softwood
  • Fine particle size

Moisture Content

  • Normal condition: approximately 30%
  • Rainy season: up to 40%

Production Volume

  • Monthly maximum output: 1,000 tons
  • Daily production: approximately 35 tons
  • Continuous operation required

Key Objectives

  • Reduce transportation costs
  • Improve storage efficiency
  • Eliminate loose material handling
  • Minimize dust generation
  • Avoid expensive drying systems
  • Maintain low operating costs

Challenges

Low Bulk Density

Loose sawdust occupied excessive storage space and reduced transportation efficiency.

High Moisture Content

The material’s moisture content made direct briquetting impractical without additional drying equipment.

Seasonal Variations

Moisture levels increased significantly during rainy periods, creating fluctuations in material handling characteristics.

Logistics Costs

Transporting loose sawdust required more truckloads and increased freight expenses.

Recommended Solution

SINOBALER Heavy Duty Bagging Baler

The recommended system configuration consists of:

Belt Conveyor Feeding System

Loose sawdust is conveyed continuously from the collection area to the bagging baler.

Benefits include:

  • Low maintenance
  • Reliable operation
  • Suitable for wet sawdust
  • Consistent material feeding
  • Cost-effective operation

SHB1-WS-800 Bagging Baler

The SHB1-WS-800 is specifically designed for packaging lightweight biomass materials such as sawdust, wood shavings, rice husks, and similar loose materials into jumbo bags.

Key features include:

  • Semi-automatic operation
  • Hydraulic compaction system
  • High-capacity processing
  • Stable bag filling performance
  • Compact installation footprint
  • Low operating cost
  • Easy maintenance

Operating Method

The bagging process is largely automated:

  1. Sawdust is delivered by belt conveyor.
  2. Material enters the compaction chamber automatically.
  3. The hydraulic system compresses the material.
  4. The compressed material is discharged into the bag.
  5. The operator manually positions and secures the empty bag on the discharge chute before filling.
  6. Once filled, the bag is removed by forklift for storage or transportation.

This configuration provides an excellent balance between automation and investment cost while maintaining high productivity.

Results Achieved

Improved Transportation Efficiency

Bagged sawdust allows higher payload utilization and more efficient logistics planning.

Reduced Storage Space

Compared with loose stockpiles, bagged material requires significantly less storage area.

Better Material Management

Individual bags simplify inventory control and shipment scheduling.

Reduced Dust Emissions

The bagging process minimizes material loss and improves workplace cleanliness.

No Drying Required

The system processes sawdust directly at 30-40% moisture content, eliminating the need for expensive drying equipment.

Lower Operating Costs

The combination of belt conveyor feeding and the SHB1-WS-800 Bagging Baler provides an economical and reliable solution with minimal maintenance requirements.

Why Choose the SINOBALER SHB1-WS-800?

For wet sawdust applications around 1,000 tons per month, the SHB1-WS-800 offers several advantages:

Handles sawdust with moisture content up to 40%

No drying system required

Cost-effective investment

Low maintenance belt conveyor feeding

Suitable for continuous operation

Compatible with jumbo bag packaging

Improved storage and transportation efficiency

Fast return on investment
